Why you need Ai for Minutes

Those who write the algorithms have little knowledge of minutes. The programs are set up to give key points in the way an individual might take notes for their own use, but will not create a document that meets the requirements of governance, particularly in today’s public sector.

Why is it good

Contrary to the app advertising and the geeks, AI cannot (yet) write the minutes alone. A request for minutes will usually result a report on everything that was said and done in the meeting, not a focused summary that explains the outcome. Decisions and action are often muddled with the additional confusion of a ‘next steps’ section.

That may be alright for someone just wants a reminder of what was said in a meeting for their own use; but it’s not enough for those who need to drive things forwards and satisfy the requirements of governance to provide clear evidence of why decisions were made.

There is guidance on where AI is a reliable support, where it gets the minute-taker near to minutes – just in need to a final polish and where it is best left out of the process.
